Robin Yang is an instructor, writer and creative practitioner based in San Francisco.

She taught herself web development in high school so that she could build better fansites for the Backstreet Boys. After graduating from Barnard College with a degree in Sociology, she began her career in the game development and consumer technology industry, starting off in project management, working her way through user research and UX, then eventually landing in product management.

Robin has worked on products spanning mobile games, eCommerce, EdTech and FinTech, impacting millions of users across the world. She served as the product lead on an educational game designed to teach computer science, and owned product roadmaps for the web and mobile experiences at a consumer lending company.

As an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, Robin has volunteered at organizations such as ChickTech, Girls Who Code and the Global Game Jam, and given talks on subjects such as salary negotiation, self-advocacy, and impostor syndrome at conferences such as the IGDA Leadership Summit and the Game Developers Conference.

Robin writes short stories, creative non-fiction, and is working on her first novel. You can subscribe to her newsletter Creative Compost below.
